Founder A'Omare Kyyam has been passionate about assisting in the two arenas on a personal level for a number of years. In 2008, he wanted to research and implement a way to reach a broader group of individuals. After networking and speaking with existing professionals, Mr. Kyyam stated multiple times how he wanted to assist people in "...being A-OK with themselves and work on their self-improvement..." Pretty soon he came up with the name of the foundation, BAOK Foundation Inc.
As the youth development program begin to take shape, one of Mr. Kyyam's mentor suggested that he name the program AOK OutReach. The rest is history!
As we developed the HIV/AIDS Resource program, Mr. Kyyam went back to what the objective would be, "...getting individuals to the next STAGE in their lives..." The word "stages" was used and crafted into an acronym: Standing Together And Giving Everyone Strength.
